A measure of peace

Well... Thank the universe for google. I read a tip that "felt" right. We try it, and Kenny napped today for 3 hours. Insert huge sigh of relief here.

So what was the tip? Try a swaddle. He's hated swaddles since the first month or so, but now he likes it. Go figure. I guess it makes him feel secure when we set him down. Or, maybe all those floppy limbs wake him up, and the swaddle holds him steady.

Whatever the reason; PHEW!!

Fussy Little...

Angel? Nope. Not at all. For the sake of avoiding another chip in the swear jar, lets just go with the standard Parasite.

So, little Kenny from pretty much day one has been an EXCELLENT baby. I’m no expert, but I’ve heard enough horror stories from other parents. By week two, Kenny had to be woken up for his middle of the night feeding. I’m not sure how long he would have slept, if we let him. By the second month, he was sleeping through the night, about 10-11 hours straight.

Month 4, we had a routine. He went to bed about 9-10 at night. He slept till 8 or so. Then he napped for mommy twice through the day, in the morning and afternoon, for a couple hours. It was WONDERFUL. He was happy, and we were happy. Happy little family. Happy.

Then a couple weeks ago, he got a cold. Now, I’m not saying this is the actual cause, its just the timeline. He stopped napping. I mean, you put this kid down, and he screams his head off. REFUSES to nap. He spends the entire day getting crankier and crankier. He falls asleep as we hold him (if you put him down awake, he screams); then we put him down in his crib, and he wakes up IMMEDIATELY screaming. The only way he will nap, is if we hold him the entire time. Grandma had him for a few hours on the weekend; he napped in her lap for two hours. Clearly, this is not ideal.

So that’s my frustrated rant. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let us know. Otherwise this kid might be grounded as soon as he’s old enough to know he’s grounded, and for, like, 10 years.
